Focus and Scoupe

 

The purpose of the Journal of Public Defender of the Federal District (RDPDF) is to disseminate knowledge through the publication of scientific articles by authors from national and foreign educational and research institutions, professionals who are part of the justice system. In its special sections, it disseminates procedural documents, legal opinions and literary production, as well as the promotion of studies, research, practices and innovations related to the performance of public defenders.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

The Journal of Brazilian Federal District Public Defensorship  receives, free of charge, original articles in Portuguese, English, Spanish and Italian. No fees are charged during the evaluation and publication process. Thus, after peer review, articles are released at no cost to the author and the reader.

Peer Evaluation Process

  1. Only unpublished works will be accepted for th articles, reviews and case studies sections;
  2. The articles, reviews and case studies submitted to the journal will initially be appreciated by the Editor-in-Chief, regarding its content and form (desk review), which may suggest modifications, forward to reviewers or reject, when he understands that the work it does not fit the editorial line of RDPDF;
  3. Accepted articles will be evaluated by the double blind review system, guaranteeing anonymity and analysis by two different referees, who must issue an opinion within 15 (fifteen) days, when they must manifest themselves by ACCEPTANCE, by SUGGESTED CORRECTION or REJECTION of the article. If there is a disagreement regarding the acceptance or rejection of the articles by the referees, the article will be forwarded to a third referee, who will deliberate definitively.
  4. If the article is rejected, the author will be informed by the Editor-in-Chief about the reasons for the rejection. In case of acceptance, the author will be notified and the editorial team will arrange for the article to be included in the next edition of the RDPDF;
  5. In case of acceptance, the author agrees with the RDPDF privacy policy.

Frequency

The Journal of Brazilian Federal District Public Defensorship is published every four months (quaterly).

Free Access Policy

 

This journal offers immediate free access to its content, following the principle that making scientific knowledge freely available to the public provides greater worldwide democratization of knowledge. 

This is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.”

Declaration on Ethics

 

 

The Journal of Brazilian Federal District Public Defensorship follows the Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Magazine Editors prepared by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE 2011). The commitment to ensure good ethical and deontological practices must be assumed by the entire editorial team, authors and reviewers. Therefore, according to the recommendations established by the Ethics Committee on publications, each of the parties involved in the evaluation and publication process of the proposed articles at a minimum, commit to the following:

Duties of Editors:

  • Take responsibility for the content of the Journal as a whole;
  • Strive to get to know the interests of readers, authors and members of the Editorial Board, as well as keep them always informed about the journal's editorial objectives and policies;
  • Make an assessment of the proposals for articles based exclusively on academic merit, disregarding the nature of the authors and their institution, including race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship or political philosophy of the authors.
  • Do not use unpublished information for your own research without the express consent of the author;
  • Ensure the existence of a fair, impartial and timely scientific evaluation process, as well as transparency in the manuscript editing and publication processes;
  • Identify and report cases of possible plagiarism or duplicate publication
  • Guarantee the confidentiality of the manuscripts;
  • Constantly improve the magazine;

Duties of Authors:

  • Present articles with an objective discussion, resulting from important research work. An article must contain sufficient details and references to allow others to replicate the work. Any form of plagiarism, fraudulent or known inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.
  • Do not submit the same manuscript to more than one magazine;
  • Ensure that the submitted work is original and has not been published elsewhere, in any language, and that the authors have used the work and / or words of others, citing in an appropriate manner.
  • Follow copyright laws and conventions. Copyrighted material (eg, tables, figures or extensive citations) should be reproduced only with appropriate permission and acknowledgment.
  • In the case of co-authored works, consensus must be guaranteed in the approval of the final version of the manuscript for evaluation or publication;
  • When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his own published work, it is his obligation to immediately notify the magazine's Editorial Team and collaborate with them to retract or correct the article.

Duties of Assessors:

  • Assist the editor in making editorial decisions;
  • Guarantee confidentiality during the peer review process;
  • Manifest the existence of a conflict of interest or impossibility of evaluation;
  • To bring to the editor's attention any substantial similarity or coincidence between the manuscript under consideration, and any other published article, of which he has personal knowledge.
  • Prepare opinions without personal criticism of the author. Evaluators must clearly express their perspectives, with arguments.
  • Do not use the ideas obtained through the evaluation process for your own benefit;
  • The recommendation to accept or reject an article must be based on its importance, originality and clarity, as well as on the validity of the study and its inclusion in the scope of the journal;
  • The evaluation must be objective and the recommendations must be supported by solid arguments so that the authors can improve the text. Relevant publications should be recommended when they are not cited;
  • When the manuscript does not fit your research area or when you know that you are unable to meet the deadline, you must inform the editors;
  • Respect the established deadlines.

Plagiarism Detection

The submitted works will be technically reviewed for plagiarism analysis, using the program "Plagius - Plagiarism Detector Professional 2.4.16". If plagiarism is verified, the authors will be guided to correct the inadequacies. If plagiarism is reported to the RDPDF after the publication of the article or review, these will be analyzed by the Editorial Board and, if the complaint is confirmed, the article will be immediately deleted from the RDPDF. In such cases, penalties may be applied to the author (s).
