Vol. 3 No. 1 (2021): Law, security and liberties: legal mechanisms to individual and collective guarantees

The apparent contradiction present in law interpretations and its preferred decisions about individual and collective rights and aspects involved in the legal protection reflects about the choice of means, scope and breadth of legal guarantees. This results in distinctions between individual and collective guarantees, usually without factual opposition. Hence, discussions of law and its procedural, especially in the face of new instruments and legal mechanisms that provide for the collective protection of freedoms and rights, in contrast to a traditional, but still necessary and present, protection of individual rights. The objective of this thematic issue is received articles and book reviews, in the different areas of law, contributions on contradictory, controversial legal themes that, at its core, re-discuss legal options that, as a substrate, convey the uncompromising defense of essential human rights.
